We take big pride in that recognition we received from you our fellow guests.  We are aware that once in a while are some small hick-ups, and will do our very best to minimize them even further, anticipate our guests needs and be there whatever information or helping hand is needed.

This award is a big honor and an additional inspiration for all of us at Mike’s Beach Resort and the Adventure Dive Shop, to keep our standard, smooth some edges and to turn your yearly  vacation to the best one you ever had.

The Perfect Dauin Resort

We loved our stay at Mike’s. The resort is clean and well-maintained, and had everything we needed. The rooms are spacious, AC worked great, and the beds are comfortable – a rarity in Asia that I treasure after enduring hard mattresses for a while! We’re underwater photographers and our room had plenty of spaces for drying, cleaning and charging cameras. Food was great and prices were fantastic.

I can’t say enough great things about the atmosphere and service. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and Mike is always around chatting with guests, making sure you’re well taken care of. You always feel welcome. And if they don’t have what you want, chances are Mike knows someone and will procure it for you. He brought in a couple to do a massage for us right in our room. We really loved the intimate atmosphere. And our dive guides were fantastic – great humor and really good eyes for spotting all the wonderful macro critters. We appreciated the small groups too – makes macro photography much more enjoyable when you feel free to spend time with a subject.

We dove three days at Dauin and one at Apo Island. Apo was some of the best coral growth we’ve seen in a while, and had lots of turtles and schools. We were equally impressed with the Dauin sites. There are a bunch of great sites right off the beach and I think only Lembeh Straights had more diversity of macro life. However, the critters in Dauin were more active than we’ve seen elsewhere. Maybe because of less divers? We hardly saw anyone else on the sites. The boat Mike’s runs is a large and comfortable banca.

We walked down the beach our last day peeking in other resorts and were really glad we had chosen Mike’s. We will be back!

“What an great new place”

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2011

This is my 5th trip to dive n the Philippines, always going to a different place. This is, by far, the best accomodation/food/diving I’ve experienced in this country. From the first email I felt welcomed and comfortable with what I was going to experience. Pulling into the resort from the small road was amazing. Right away, the place was classy. With 8 guest rooms in the main building, it was cozy. The outside looked top notch and the rooms were absolutely great. The bathroom was first class, wi-fi that always worked, great details in the room and the restaurant/bar area served great food, both American and Filipino with fair prices all around. The dive staff was great and they spotted all the critters for us. Big comfy boat and attentive staff. Mike and his family live on site, so there was definately a friendly atmosphere around the place the whole time, and he really looked after our needs and made our stay great. This is truly the best place I’ve stayed in the Philippines, and will be back next year for sure.

Thank you guys for such a great review it was a pleasure having you stay with us, hope to see you again soon.
Take care

Mikes Beachresort on Tripadvisor

Just a hearty “thank you, guys !” for your review on Tripadvisor.

Coming from Massachusetts, my wife and I as well as our 16 year old daughter Kathryn, stayed at Mikes Resort for three days in August 2010. We were vacationing, visiting my wife Alma’s family, both in Leyte and Cebu. I had googled “scuba diving in Dumaguete” and found Mikes Resort and Adventure Diving.

After visiting we decided to go relax at Mikes Resort and let my daughter Kathryn obtain her PADI Open Water Diver certificate so we could dive together in the future. She was fortunate enough to be taught by PADI Instructor Mike Feeney himself! After certification, which was completed in 3 days, we all got to dive the beautiful and colorful coral-gardens of Dauin. We saw sea turtles and so many different tropical fish I could not possibly remember the names of all of them. Definitely the highlight of our vacation!

I am sure my daughter will remember this adventure for a lifetime.

Mikes Resort is beautifully constructed, right on the ocean with postcard type views. The pool is clean and inviting. The rooms are tastefully done and very comfortable. The staff is professional and courteous. The food is excellent. The locals are wonderful and amusing to chat with at dinner time as well as the other divers who dove Apo Island telling us about their days adventures .

Mike and Joe Ann, thank you both for making our vacation one to remember and we look forward to someday meeting you both again!

Kevin, Alma and Kathryn

We hope to see you guys again one day on your next visit in the Philippines.

… from Scubaboard

Just read the following post on ScubaBoard :

Just got back from a week in Dauin at Mike’s Resort. We did 3-dive day trips to Sumilon, Apo, and Siquijor Islands and 4 days of muck diving on the Dauin coastline. Can hardly see more variety in 7 days of diving anywhere in the world. Amazing corals on Apo, steep slopes and vertical walls on all three out islands, and all kinds of weird creatures in Dauin. Only small frog fish this trip – the large ones have been gone for about 18 months according to Mike, and no more diving at DuCoMi Pier but great nonetheless. Mike’s is a nice family-oriented (his family) low key place. End of the season so only three divers most days – we got to chose where and when we dove. Highly recommended.

Thanks a lot for your review. It was a pleasure to have you with us. We hope to welcome you again one day.

Adventure Dive Shop on Tripadvisor

Looking for a One Stop Scuba experience including Sea Safaris? you need look no further than Mike Feeney’s “Adventure Dive Shop in Dumaguete where you will find yourself in the care of the Adventure Dive Shop family of Mike, his wife Joe Ann & the team.
Living in the UK on the Isle of Wight, my Wife Tess of 18 years, a Coronary Care Nurse originally from the Philippines planned a surprise visit to join her family in the province of Pampanga on Luzon to celebrate her parents 50th Wedding Anniversary…Following the family celebrations, accompanied by our 15 yr old lad we managed our Great Escape to Dumaguete the Capitol seat of Negros Oriental to do something for ourselves.
We were looking for a one stop facility where we would be taken care of to incorporate the PADI Open Water Diver Certification during our stay in the tropics (Unless one is a Masochist, forget UK weather in Feb !). Prior to this decision, following hours of enjoyable research in the UK on the net for suitable Dive School locations including Palawan & Puerto Galera, I came across the “Adventure Dive Shop” in Dumaguete.
A couple of email’s/phone calls and a month later, Mike who met us at Dumaguete Airport even arranged our
accommodation package. Originally from the US. he is the Principal Instructor and owner catering for absolute beginners to the highest level of experience, given that he now calls Dumaguete home, his local knowledge is second to none.

dumaguete-family-outing
Mikes teaching and instruction methods are very thorough, patient and firm, he also enjoys a wee dram and a yarn at days end. Under Mikes’s tutelage and eagle eye, even Tess overcame her great fear of submerging.
Accommodation was very reasonably priced in what must be one of the friendliest places it has ever been our pleasure to visit. Currently under construction is their resort in Dauin,
the closest point to get to “Apo Island Marine Sanctuary”. We are looking forward to being one of the first guests..! Check out their Website www.adventurediveshop.com
No, I’m not intentionally advertising, however I am in hospitality and sincere people deserve credit where it’s due, I can be contacted for verification. galloconnect@hotmail.com Best – John

Thank you for diving with us, hope to see you again

Mike on travbuddy

The following is a part from a nice Tripreport from Christel on travbuddy.

She spend her childhood-summers here in Dumaguete and  came back years later to explore Dumaguete…. again.

This knowledge is based on the stories of MIKE, the dive master that I met on my recent Hi Ho in Dumaguete. Mike owns a dive shop along their version of “Roxas Boulevard” (its near Siliman University) and he has a lot of peanuts. We asked him why he had peanuts.. he said that he buys the “TINGI’s” from the kids that go inside his shop and give it to his customers. He also has a book exchange program inside his shop. So what happens is that.. you bring a book..leave it there..and get a book that you like.. no paper memberships, its purely based on honesty (that’s what Mike told us).

Going back to the peanuts, so he not only buys peanuts from these kids but he also helps these kids to go to school. I could go on and on about Mike’s humanitarian efforts to help Dumaguete but you can talk to him in person. Just go to his shop look for Mike and he will happily tell you about his vision for the kids in Dumaguete and Dumaguete city itself. That is if he is not in Apo island escorting a group of divers. You can catch him 6:00p.m onwards though.

Thank you Christel, we hope to see you some when again
All the best

Adventure Dive Shop on dutchpickle.com

dutchpickle.com is one of the best private resources about the Philippines. The guy travels around all over the Philippines and the Adventure Diveshop Team is happy to be part of his schedule when visiting Negros….

Michael Feeney of Adventure Dive keeps things interesting with his tales of the Philippines and just about everything else.

You gotta love this guy because he is so full of energy and charisma.

His dive shop has its headquarters right on the main drag in Dumaguete near Happy Fred’s bar. It is kind of a combination Mexican restaurant/dive shop. It seems to work.

he shop sells Mares fins and a few other accessories which can come in handy if you want to do a little snorkeling in the area.

He does take snorkelers onboard for the trip to Apo Island for a very low fee and it is well worth the trip. A 100 peso per day user fee is collected for the Apo Island Sanctuary from all snorkelers and divers.

Just read his full article about the Adventure Dive Shop here.

Thank you, mate. Hope to see you soon again…
